Our History
Serving North Philadelphia since 2002
Hope Partnership for Education was founded by the Society of the Holy Child Jesus and Sisters of Mercy, with input from community residents, on the ideals that every Philadelphian should have access to a quality educational experience.
The instructional model originated at Nativity Mission Center in New York City in 1971 and promotes small class sizes, extended learning time during the school day and in the summer, and high school support with an emphasis on providing quality education to historically under-resourced communities.
Today, Hope Partnership for Education is a trusted education center that offers small class sizes and after-school enrichment for middle school students, working in collaboration with other organizations in the Fairhill-Hartranft neighborhood in service to the community.

January 14, 2001Meeting of founding communities to explore possibility of establishing an independent middle school in North Philadelphia |

September 2001- June 2002Funded by the Cassin Foundation, a Feasibility Study was completed in partnership with neighborhood residents to inform the education center’s mission |

June 2002Hope Partnership for Education is incorporated as a Non-Profit Organization and the first Governing Board is established |

2002-2004Hope launches first program, After-School Enrichment, at 7th and Dauphin streets |
|
September 2004Hope launches the first 5th grade class in rented space at R.W. Brown Community Center |
|
September 2005Hope launches the Adult Education program |
|
September 2008Hope launches the Graduate Support Program |

June 2008Hope Partnership School graduates the first class of 8th grade students |
|
2010Hope Partnership School incorporates Physical Education, Music, and Art into core curriculum |

May 2012Hope Partnership for Education celebrates its 10th Anniversary |

June 2012Hope Partnership School celebrates the first alumni group to graduate high school |

May 16, 2013Hope moves into its own home at 2601 N. 11th Street |

June 2017First Hope Partnership School alumni graduate from college |

2019Hope Partnership School Faculty adopt Google Classroom and secure two Chromebooks per student, one for home and one for school |

March 2020Hope Partnership School seamlessly transitions to remote learning due to strong communication channels with parents/guardians and technology access |
