30 Mar Having a Growth Mindset
Hope encourages its students to have a “Growth Mindset” when it comes to education and learning. According to Hope’s 5th Graders, a growth mindset looks like the following:
- Is this really my best work?
- Mistakes help me improve
- This may take some time and effort
- What am I missing?
- I’m going to figure out what she does and try it
- I can always improve; I’ll keep trying!
- I will use some of the strategies I’ve learned
- I am going to train my brain
- I am on the right track
- I made a mistake
|I am hilarious and talented,
I wonder what I will look like when 18,
I hear Bigfoot sleeping,
I see Bigfoot’s son,
I want to be known,
I am hilarious and talented.I pretend to be cocky,
I feel Bigfoot’s toes,
I touch a fire breathing dragon,
I worry Grandpa will die,
I cry when I lose a family,
I am hilarious and talented.
I say equality for all,
|I want to find happiness in life and share that same happiness with everyone I meet. I want to accomplish every goal I have set for myself, whether it be professional, personal, or civic and helping others. To accomplish these things, I always need to show effort and remain diligent.
In my life, I am thankful for all things, but I am most thankful for my family, my education, and my freedom.
|I am thankful for my family because they are and will always be there for me. I am thankful for my house because I have a place to call home with a roof over my head and food to eat. Many people live on the streets, but my parents make sure I have somewhere comfortable to go when the sun sets. They will always love and protect me, and I can always depend on them. I know they will never let me down and will support me no matter what.
I am also grateful for my education because so many people in the world do not have an education because of the area they live in. Many women are especially not able to go to school and I am grateful I am not one of those women. I have amazing teachers who care about me, who want me to do well and become a better person.
I am thankful for my freedom. Many people in the world do not have their freedom and are controlled by a dictator. Without freedom, I would not be able to be me.
|Nahmir||When I am older, I want to work in security. I want to keep people and families safe from danger. I need to keep working on myself, both physically and academically, so that I can be the best there is in this career.|
|I want to live happily throughout the duration of my life and leave this world with no regrets. To do this I need to always work to the best of my ability and treat others with kindness.|
|I want to help people by becoming a human rights lawyer. My goal is to help as many mistreated people as I can. I can achieve this goal by studying, working hard, and always remembering to be compassionate.|
