Graduate Support Program offers Application and Financial Aid Information Sessions

Graduate Support Program has been busy providing two Application and Financial Aid nights this year to offer support its current students and graduates. Parents from the 8th grade class dropped in to get support with applying to high schools and filling out financial aid applications.

Every year the 8th grade class applies to at least ten high schools. They first start with their top five public school high schools within the city of the Philadelphia. Ms. Holiday first pushes for our students to attend to the city’s special admission and citywide admission schools. The summer after their seventh-grade year, they also begin working on their high school essays, and have them completed by the start of the school year.

So far, our current 8th graders have gotten acceptances from Saul Agricultural High School, George Washington Carver High School of Engineering and Science, Lankenau High School, Bodine High School for International Affairs, St. Basil’s Academy, Neumann Goretti High School, Holy Ghost Prep, Roman Catholic High School, and many more.

Hope’s graduates from the Class of 2015 also came by to get help with applying to their colleges. It’s so hard to believe that just four years ago they were graduating from Hope! Our seniors have been working hard, taking their SATs, applying for the FAFSA, and visiting different college and universities. Ms. Sarah, the Graduate Support Program Associate, has also been instrumental in assisting students with their personal statements and interview preparation. This upcoming Tuesday will be the next college tour trip, and alumni will have a private tour of St. Joseph’s University.

Many of our students also attend various other charter and private schools throughout the area including Little Flower Catholic High School, Cristo Rey Philadelphia High School, The Philadelphia High School for Girls, Science Leadership Academy, The Academy at Palumbo, Franklin Learning Center, and Constitution High, Imhotep Charter, Freire Charter, and Mathematics, Civics, and Sciences Charter High School.

Our students and families have worked so hard to prepare for the next steps in their educational journeys. We are so excited for where the future will lead them! As a reward for their hard work, we’ll be headed to Skyzone again for their 5th annual alumni trip in February. We can’t wait to have some time to relax and reflect on all our accomplishments thus far!
